Please note: Children must be 3-years old by October 1st in order to enroll for the Fall session.

MISSION
Venni Studio offers children and instructors the opportunity to research and experience the vast arts, life, and culture of our world through the modalities of drama, literature, art, language, music, movement, and science. This studio time is a creatively driven co–learning process. Venni Studio houses a small group—two co–instructors with a maximum of seven children—in order to foster a rich and dynamic program driven and largely negotiated by the children.
In the approach of Studio Creative Play, Venni Studio nurtures the conversation and relationship-based programming as primary tools to inspired learning and enrichment. Children are listened to and celebrated as individuals. They are encouraged to spawn ideas and direct their own investigations. Throughout their time with the Studio, co–teachers of Venni Studio are trained in Creative Play Dynamics so that they may guide and support the child’s creative holistic growth through a perceptive, patient, sensitive, and mindful approach.
PROGRAM
At Venni Studio, children engage with visiting artists, musicians, writers, and educators who offer them integrated and expert perspectives in curricular areas. Children always have the options of participating directly or taking time to wind down, relax, and observe. The inspiring indoor and outdoor environment and format of the program provide the quiet flexibility and freedom needed by the child.

SCHEDULE
Monthly Saturday morning workshops.
Fall only. September - December
The Villaggio Studio dates for Fall 2012 will be announced at the end of August.

Villaggio Studio Workshops build community around young children and parents celebrating and exploring creativity together.
They are dynamic, structured, theme–based creative play sessions lead by the Studio director, co–teachers and visiting musicians.
Children are encouraged to use their imaginations to create pretend worlds centered upon the theme at hand. There is a different theme each month.
We celebrate movement in the Studio as a celebration of free body expression. We incorporate music, storytelling, puppetry, obstacle courses, dramatic play, dancing, singing, breathing, silence, and the imagination.
Parents are encouraged to embrace the workshops as an inspirational activity that encourages creative bonding with their children. Taking this time to nurture and joyously connect with your child greatly fosters their emotional, social, and intellectual growth.

ART HUB GLOBAL
SCP is committed to evolving and broadening its mission to include a connection with children and parents worldwide through a new initiative named Art Hub Global (AHG).
SCP’s new vision is to share cross-cultural experiences with world neighbors with art and creativity as a foundation. The mission of AHG is to connect children, parents, and artists worldwide through art and creativity. Through a constant and reciprocal stream of shared drawings, paintings, photographs, and other creative processes unique to each culture, lives will be opened to the special differences and commonalities experienced as parents and children across the globe.
Already in process from AHG are the Pictures on Earth project, a seven-continent art exchange between parents and children. When possible, photographs of children and parents are included in the exchange. When necessary, AHG sends and donates art supplies to parents and children in other countries who do not have access to materials. It is the vision of AHG to make Pictures on Earth a primary experience and enduring project of youth internationally.
Through a holistic process approach to enrichment all parts of the individual are explored and nurtured as equally important to the health of their joy, vitality, and creativity. If we apply this holistic philosophy to our own children as well as the children and parents that we hold as our world neighbors, we simultaneously close the gaps of misunderstanding and evolve the whole world.
Through exposing our children to the whole world we are really acquainting them with the whole of themselves. By providing long-term foundations for them to create productive relationships with others outside their own culture, we enhance their capacity for compassion and strengthen the seat of their happiness.
There is nothing more basic and fundamental than a child’s self-expression and imagination. By connecting children and parents through a medium that is natural, inexpensive, ever-changing, and worldwide we embark upon a win-win vision.
AHG will create a chain of world relationship from the earliest ages of awareness that will inspire future generations who know and perceive themselves as global inhabitants of a largely creative and caring sphere. This experience will influence their education, relationships, self-esteem, creativity, aspirations, and choices throughout their lives and connect them to the lives of others beyond their own community.

ART HUB GLOBAL’S
CRESCENDO STUDIO
for children 3-7 years of age
FALL 2011
This fall 2011, SCP will offer the Art Hub Global - Crescendo Program for the November and December break periods.
Children 3 - 7 years of age will explore and create multi-media from a global perspective, incorporating sculpture, textiles, collage and design inspired by cultures from 7 continents.
Enrollment for children 3 years of age is limited to those currently attending Venni Studio. We welcome children ages 4-7 from the larger community. Children are grouped by age and share a ratio of approximately 5 to 8 children to 2 teachers.
We will also offer this program during the mid-winter and spring breaks.
The week’s creative process will launch from a focus on music, sound, form, color, and design. Along with thematic exercises in yoga, drama, and movement the program crescendos by spawning individual children’s art pieces.
Each week the children will have the opportunity to delve into a different theme and blend the discovery of the sound of a particular instrument, such as harp, french horn, cello, and kinesthetic
expression with direction they take with their projects. Visiting guest artists and musicians inspire the experience from their unique creative guidance and contribution.
Through the AHG’s Crescendo program, children bond and expand the multi-dimensional nature of their inner voice and visual expression within the joy of collaboration.
Children who have not attended SCP in the past must submit a full SCP application before being considered for placement.

COLLAGE SUMMER STUDIO
for children 4, 5, 6, and 7 years of age
ENROLLING NOW FOR SUMMER 2012!
LOCATION
Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture building
53 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215
The program utilizes all 3 floors of the building location and garden.
Collage studio is a multifaceted creative enrichment camp in which we focus on integrating projects and performance in:
Art
Sculpture
Dance, Movement, Yoga
Drama and Comedy
At Collage Studio each of these curricular areas is assigned their own day of the week on which activities and projects will be focused. The Collage Studio co-teaching team is supported daily by talented and inspiring, expert guest artists and instructors who lead the process of expression in each curricular area. Throughout the course of a week, children attending Collage will inhabit the magic and diversity of experience that each day’s creative world has to offer. In this Studio, dancers, comedians, actors, yogis, and artists will ignite the children’s imaginative inner worlds and move them to grow and collaborate in their playful self-expression and productions.
Each day culminates with participants working on individual large format collage on canvas art pieces. By the end of the week, children will have completed one canvas of their own. These collages serve as rich, multidimensional, visual celebrations of the joyous processes experienced in this unique and nurturing summer Studio community.
Beyond the Studio environment, the program also offers children the rewards of outdoor romp, play, and field exploration key to summer fun. We will have Prospect Park and Botanical Gardens adventures, extensive water play in our garden (wading pools, slides, etc.) and museum excursions. Outdoor journeys are an integral part of the summer Studio schedule, balancing the more structured, art focused component of the program.
Collage Studio is a small summer program hosting only seven to ten children in each age group. The age groups are partially mixed for some aspects of the special events exercises and projects, but otherwise, outside of outdoor recreation, maintain separate activity. There are two instructors assigned to each age group. The program is directed by SCP founder and director, Khahtee V. Turner, and taught by the staff of Venni Studio and other arts educators.
Safety is first priority in all aspects of this summer program’s activity. All teachers are First-Aid and CPR certified. There will be a comprehensive orientation packet sent to Collage Studio attendees and their families prior to the session commencement to further acquaint participants with the structure, offerings, protocol, staff, and community of the program.
